Privacy policy

LAN Waifu is made by Guy Argaman. This page explains what the LAN Waifu extension and this website do with information about you. The short version: very little, and none of it is sold or shared for advertising.
Your code
Your character reacts to what happens in your editor: that you saved a file, that errors appeared or went away, that you're typing fast, that you committed. She notices that these things happened, never what your code says, and this stays on your computer.
With a room code
If you set a room code, your copy of LAN Waifu talks to your teammates' copies so characters can visit and carry messages. It sends:
- your display name, your chosen character and a random id for your copy;
- where your character is (home, visiting, on her way);
- the messages and sounds you choose to send, and the powers you use.
Everything is encrypted with a key made from the room code, so only people with the same code can read it. It goes directly over your local network, to the addresses you list, or through a relay you choose; the relay only passes along encrypted data. Without a room code, nothing is sent.
LAN Waifu Pro
Pro is sold by our reseller, Freemius, which handles payment and receives what you enter at checkout (such as your name, email and payment details) under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email and order details from Freemius to support your purchase.
When you enter a license key, and about once a week after that, the extension checks it with Freemius, sending the key, your computer's name (so you can tell your activations apart) and an anonymous id for your computer (a scrambled form of VS Code's machine id, so a reinstall counts as the same machine). Without a key, nothing is sent.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of serving them. The server that hosts the site may keep standard access logs (IP address, page, time) for a short while for security.
Your choices
You can leave the room code empty to keep LAN Waifu entirely offline, and remove a license from a machine at any time. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, write to hello@lan-waifu.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
